Working as Partners
VPP takes a unique approach to veterinary medicine by seeking strong and growing practices to work with as true partners with a shared vision. By allowing the key veterinarian(s) at each practice to continue to own a portion of the business, incentives are aligned and a true partnership is created. VPP and its partners jointly make key investment decisions including capital expenditures, marketing programs and annual budgets. We work together to make the appropriate clinical and financial decisions which lead to continued growth of a practice.
VPP management has extensive experience in developing win-win business relationships with doctors. VPP will be responsible for:
- Financial functions: accounting, accounts payable, cash management, financial statement preparations, and budgeting
- Vendor contracting: ensuring the practice is receiving the best possible pricing without restricting product choice
- Human resources: analyzing and selecting employee benefit programs to attract and retain the most qualified staff
- Recruiting: hiring new veterinarians for the practice
- Marketing strategy: coordinating a local plan to ensure the practice grows, including:
- Reminder notice coordination
- Customer retention programs and analysis
- Client satisfaction surveys
- New client acquisition strategies
- Web strategies
- Pricing: developing and implementing a pricing strategy that is appropriate for your market
- Management reporting: providing regular and timely reporting so the owners understand how the practice is performing relative to industry benchmarks and best practices within VPP
- Capital expenditures: ensuring appropriate capital investment decisions are made for the practice and that the clinical/financial benefits of the investment are fully understood by all the partners
As a partner, the veterinarian owner(s) will continue to provide local leadership, being the public face of the practice. The local veterinarian will have primary responsibility for:
- Clinical care: providing clinical leadership and ensuring all patients are receiving the highest quality care
- Customer service: ensuring the highest level of customer service is provided every day
- Clinical training: training staff to ensure they have the capabilities to deliver high quality care
